About Nikki Hudson

Nikki Hudson was elected to represent Ward 11, which includes portions of the Cudell, Edgewater, Detroit-Shoreway, West Boulevard, and Brookside neighborhoods.

A longtime grassroots community leader, Nikki has lived in the Cudell neighborhood with her family for more than 20 years. She is committed to strengthening residents’ voices by helping organize and sustain community-based groups such as block clubs, street clubs, and merchants’ associations. Nikki also supports keeping our Cleveland environment clean and green, maintaining and improving city parks and green spaces, and is a strong advocate for public safety measures that make Cleveland streets and neighborhoods more accessible and pedestrian friendly.

Originally from Columbus, Nikki moved to Northeast Ohio to attend Kent State University, where she majored in accounting, and later earned her degree from CSU College of Law. After graduation, she realized a legal career wasn’t the right fit and, along with her husband, launched a business at the West Side Market selling freshly squeezed juices and smoothies. After selling the business and starting a family, Nikki took a flexible position with local artist Phyllis Seltzer, serving as a personal assistant and estate manager.

Nikki has long been active in neighborhood organizations. She served on the board of Cudell Improvement Inc. and continued her service after its merger with Northwest Neighborhoods Community Development Corporation. During that time, she also chaired her neighborhood block club, the Edgewater Parke Neighbors, leading multiple initiatives to improve the community. Her efforts helped secure a crosswalk on Lake Avenue, preserve neighborhood orchard trees, and plant 8,000 daffodil bulbs along the railroad hillside on Desmond Avenue.

Nikki and her neighbors also successfully fought to revoke the liquor license of a neighborhood store connected to years of criminal activity, contributing to a safer and stronger community. Over the past year, she helped lead the effort to “Save Cudell Park” and served on the steering committee responsible for developing a new design for Marion-Seltzer Elementary School.

A proud member of the Coalition for a Better Cleveland, Nikki has remained outspoken on key issues, including opposition to the proposed gas station adjacent to Cudell Park and the flaws she sees in Cleveland City Council’s redistricting process.

Nikki is dedicated to collaborating with others to achieve the best outcomes—not only for her own neighborhood, but for the City of Cleveland as a whole.
