Councilman Polensek Calls for Public’s Help in Identifying Two Young Girls Found Deceased; Criticizes Lack of Communication from Police

Mar 03, 2026

Councilman Mike Polensek, who represents Ward 10, is calling on the public to assist authorities in identifying two young girls who were recently found deceased in a field  near East 162nd and Midland Avenue. The bodies were partly hidden in suitcases.

“This is a heartbreaking and deeply troubling situation,” said Councilman Polensek. “Our community deserves answers, and most importantly, these young girls deserve to be identified and treated with dignity and respect.”

The Councilmember is urging anyone with information,  no matter how small it may seem, to contact Cleveland Police (216-623-5464) or submit tips anonymously to him.

Councilman Polensek expressed outrage regarding the lack of communication from the Cleveland Police Department. Despite the incident occurring within Ward 10, the Councilman was not invited to participate in the press conference about the tragic situation today. The Councilman had met with Public Safety Director Wayne Drummond immediately before the press conference and was told there was no additional information.

“Open communication between law enforcement and Council leadership is essential, especially in cases of this magnitude," said Councilman Polensek, who also chair's Council Safety committee. "Our residents look to their council office for guidance and reassurance during times of crisis.”

The Councilman is demanding improved coordination and transparency moving forward to ensure the community receives timely updates and that a thorough investigation is underway.
