Councilman Charles Slife Lauds Long-Time-Coming Old Lorain Connector
Aug 10, 2026

CLEVELAND, OHIO—Tomorrow, August 11, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., Cleveland Metroparks and its project partners—the City of Cleveland, Cleveland Clinic Fairview Hospital, Cuyahoga County, and West Park Kamm's Neighborhood Development—will hold a ribbon-cutting celebration for the new Old Lorain Connector in Rocky River Reservation.
The Connector is a third-of-a-mile-long, all-purpose trail that will provide paved, walkable access to the Metropark’s Rocky River Reservation for the 1,400 residents living within half a mile from the park. Construction on the $2 million Connector began last year.
“Seeing the Old Lorain Connector completed is full circle for me,” said Cleveland City Councilman Charles Slife, who represents Ward 15, which includes the Connector site. “My very first act as a member of Council was to pass a feasibility study for this project.”
“Kamm’s Corners sits right next to the Rocky River Metropark, and yet because of the steep cliffs, it’s almost impossible to get to on foot,” Slife added. “Now, people from Kamm’s will not only have easy walking access to the Metropark, but they’ll also be connected to the 33 miles of trails that make up Emerald Necklace Trail.”
Anyone interested in attending the ribbon-cutting is encouraged to park at the Little Met Golf Course, 18599 Old Lorain Road, Cleveland.
