City Council Designates September 25, 2026 As Dolly Parton Day in Cleveland

Sep 14, 2026

CLEVELAND, OHIO—Today, September 14, 2026, Cleveland City Council passed Resolution 1073-2026, sponsored by Ward 13 Councilman Brian Kazy, that designated September 25, 2026, as Dolly Parton Day in the City of Cleveland.

In doing so, Cleveland joins dozens of cities, counties, and states across the U.S. in honoring the life and legacy of Dolly Parton as a genre-defying artist, businesswoman, philanthropist, and role model.

September 25, or “9 2 5,” has become Dolly Day across the United States in recognition of Ms. Parton’s starring role in the 1980 film “Nine to Five,” and the massive hit song that came from it.

On Dolly Day, Cleveland City Council, the City of Cleveland, and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame will celebrate Ms. Parton with community events, including live music, film, and educational presentations at the Rock Hall, giving fans a place to connect and honor her memory.

“Dolly Parton’s legacy reaches far beyond her incredible music and unmistakable voice," Councilman Kazy said, "She showed us that success means little unless you use it to lift others up."

"Through her generosity, her commitment to children and education, and the joy she brought to generations of people, Dolly made the world a kinder and brighter place. Her life was a testament to the power of compassion, humility, and giving back."

"Cleveland City Council joins people everywhere in honoring her remarkable life and remembering the lasting difference she made.”
